Hydroponics
A method of growing plants without or in semi-soil, horizontally or vertically. Instead, plants are grown in a nutrient-rich aqueous solution that provides all the elements necessary for them to grow. Hydroponic systems can vary in complexity, from simple setups such as nutrient film technique (NFT) and deep water culture (DWC) to more advanced systems such as aeroponics. By eliminating the need for soil, hydroponics has several advantages, including highly efficient use of water, faster growth rates, higher yields and the ability to grow plants in limited spaces, with a supply limited water or poor soil quality. Hydroponics is a typical example of closed-loop technology.
